Security for the 2025 NATO Summit
To ensure the security of the NATO Summit, a range of measures will be in place. Airspace will be closed and an area of the North Sea close to the coast will also be off limits. Many organisations are working together on this, including the police, the Royal Military and Border Police (Koninklijke Marechaussee) and the Ministry of Defence.
Measures for a safe NATO Summit
Air traffic
From 15.00 on Monday 23 June to 23.59 on Wednesday 25 June, no air traffic will be permitted in a 16-kilometre radius around The Hague. The only exceptions are for security-related flights and medical emergencies, including police flights, air ambulances and organ transport.
Commercial flights are allowed within a 93-kilometre radius of The Hague. These flights need permission from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management.
Shipping
During the NATO Summit a security zone will be established on the North Sea off the coast of The Hague. Restrictions on shipping traffic will apply in this area so that the police, coastguard and the Ministry of Defence have enough space to ensure security.
From 15.00 on Monday 23 June to 23.59 on Wednesday 25 June, no shipping is permitted between Hoek van Holland and Noordwijk. This applies in a zone extending more than 22 kilometres off the coast. From 23.59 on Thursday 19 June until 15.00 on Monday 23 June, the area will be accessible to vessels that have permission from the Scheveningen harbour master. This includes fishing boats and tour boats.
