Applying for an exemption from the mandatory use of a seat belt or child car seat
You must always use a seatbelt if your car seat has one. This applies to both the front and rear of a car or other vehicle. Children shorter than 1.35 metres must be seated in a child car seat. In some cases, your child may be granted an exemption from the obligation to wear a seatbelt or use a child car seat.
