Honour-based violence

Honour-based violence is mental or physical violence committed to restore the honour of the family. For example, physical abuse, forced marriage, abandonment and honour killing. The Dutch government is taking steps to prevent honour-based violence, for example by training social workers to recognise it and by identifying and prosecuting those who commit this type of violence.
